Dream Loft Workspace

The blogosphere is filled with amazing craft rooms and home offices and lately I’ve been pining away for such a space for myself.  But, I’m in a mundane boring office cubicle all day at my day job (unless we’re out in the field, which is cool) and in the evenings my creative workspace is me in our living room, either on the floor working on a project or blogging in the Ikea Poang chair with the laptop in my lap and usually sports on the television.  Comfortable? No and Yes.  Convenient? Yes and Yes.  Inspiring?  Notsomuch.

So here it is, a mash-up of things I picture when I think of the perfect workspace.  At home.  In my dreams I work from home of course.  I picture a loft area or quiet little attic nook with skylights, white angled walls, and a mix of natural, neutral, rustic, and comfy furnishings with tons of organization options.  A little touch of whimsy/funk/sarcasm thrown in too :)

Comfy layered rugs, DIY painted floors, a daybed for all those naps, tons of cabinetry, a huge work table, and since the space will be flooded with natural light from the skylight and glass doors, I want alot of plants hanging all around.

plants / pendants / cabinets / floors / barn doors / table / daybed / bookcase / rugs

Tons of organization and functionality for crafting and crocheting as well as a desk area for blogging and working from home.  Bright white planked walls of course.

pegboard / yarn board / plank wall / artwork / chair / storage / table ruler / desk set / lamp

There are so many great craft/office spaces out there with genius organization ideas, it was really hard to narrow this down to just what is here.  I feel like have four different versions of my dream space floating around in my head and this is just one of them.  Maybe by the time we actually have a room that can be this, I’ll be able to settle on some ideas.  Until then, I’m pinning away!

What about you, do you currently have a space at home to create and work in?  What is your favorite aspect of it?  Or do you dream of one someday like me, stuck working on the floor with football on?

  1. I love that peg board idea I would really like to have a dedicated craft space again I miss it. Thanks for linking up to Pin Worthy Wednesday, I have pinned your post to the Pin Worthy Wednesday Pinterest Board.

  2. What an awesome company! I wish that they had a space near me! I wonder if there are more companies like this out there…also, FREE BEER! lol Thanks so much for sharing!

  3. Yep, I feel your pain. That was me last year and I’m soooo thankful my husband was willing to build me a “real” office. It was worth every ounce of [his] blood, sweat and tears. Having a space that’s inspiring and organized is even better than I expected. And yes, I’m writing this right now on my laptop as I sit on the couch in the family room. HA! I’ll be sending good thoughts and wishes that those killer mood boards turn into reality in your near future!!!

    1. Well…you can’t really get any more comfortable than that still, it’s just hard to craft on ;) Our house is just so small, generic, and awkward. Huge big open kitchen and living area, then small bedrooms, bathrooms and closets, and no way to alter them. So frustrating! The next house MUST have a study or four bedrooms or something. Thanks for the good vibes friend!

  4. Hello cute lady! This looks so amazing. Pinned and tweeted. We appreciate you taking the time to stop by and party with us. It wouldn’t be a party without you! I hope to see you tonight at 7 pm. Lou Lou Girls
